I’m just a small town farm girl who spent my childhood playing in the sunshine, sliding in the hay loft and climbing trees. The best times were at my Grandparents farm just next door. I was on the tractor with Grandpa or playing under Grandmas quilt frame hanging from the ceiling. We live on that farm now. It was homesteaded by my Great Grandfather in the 1870’s.
I started sewing at age 9 on a treadle machine, making doll clothes. I made my first quilt at the age of 14. No pattern just figured it out as I went. I still have that quilt. It won a blue ribbon at the Grange Fair that year.
Just after high school I met my husband, George. What a great Guy. He’s supported and encouraged my passion and creativity all these years. We have two grown, married children and one really awesome grandson.
We’ve been involved in the commercial side of the quilt world since 2005, when I bought my first Quilt store. We sold it in 2008 when my husband retired and moved back to the farm. It’s great to be home surrounded by horses, mules, chickens, dogs, cats, a rabbit and a guinea pig.
So now on to the next phase in my life “Prairie Girls Quilt Shop”. I can’t wait to share my love of everything Western, Cowboy and Ranching.
So I want any of you to feel free to call and just say hello.
